Agronomic Services - Soil Testing

Soil Testing

Purpose

Soil testing measures soil fertility by analyzing plant-available nutrients (except nitrogen) that are essential for plant growth. Results are reported as an index showing whether nutrient levels are low, optimum, or excessive. Soil pH and acidity are also measured to determine lime needs. These results help guide nutrient management, so crops grow well, farms remain productive, and natural resources are protected.

Please note:

  • The Agronomic Division does not test soil for contaminants.
  • Soilless media, such as potting soil or planting mixes with less than 50% native soil, should not be sent to the soil testing lab. Please submit these samples under Soilless Media Analysis.
