Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council will meet Jan. 19 in Raleigh

| WHY: |
The council will receive an update on efforts to develop whole-farm certification for Good Agricultural Practices; hear a presentation about present-use valuations; develop work plans for subcommittees; and discuss strategies for implementing recommendations contained in the council’s 2011 annual report to the General Assembly. |

The Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council was created by the General Assembly in 2009. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler serves as chairman of the 27-member group, which includes farmers, educators, food industry executives, state agency heads, community activists and local-food advocates.
