Ag Commissioner Troxler visiting Western N.C. next week

WHO/WHAT:

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will meet with farmers and agribusiness leaders in Swain, Cherokee and McDowell counties Aug. 22 and 23.

SCHEDULE:

Aug. 22
5:30 p.m. – Listening session with farmers at Jeff Darnell’s farm in Bryson City.

Aug. 23
9 a.m. – Listening session with farmers at the Ed Wood Farm in Andrews.
2 p.m. – Tour of Foothills Pilot Plant, a poultry and rabbit processing plant in Marion.

OTHER INFO:

The listening sessions will give farmers the opportunity to tell the commissioner about challenges facing agricultural producers in the region.
