There’s a lot happening at DuPont State Recreational Forest. Projects include a new parking area at the Hooker Falls Access to help accommodate more visitors. The new parking area will be located adjacent to the existing parking lot and will accommodate an estimated 60 vehicles.
In addition, construction of a multi-use recreational bridge near Hooker Falls is beginning. The Hooker Falls Access and trail will be closed for at least two months, and Hooker Falls will not be accessible to the public during construction. Moore Cemetery and Triple Falls also will not be accessible from the Hooker Falls parking lot during this time. The new bridge and parking area will improve safety by allowing visitors to reach Triple Falls without crossing the highway bridge.
The forest is also working on a new visitor’s center at the High Falls Access Area. The visitor’s center will focus on the many aspects of DuPont State Recreational Forest, including the history of the forest, recreation and forest management.
