Free tomato sandwiches at State Farmers Market May 17

WHAT:

In celebration of Greenhouse Vegetable Day, the State Farmers Market is offering free tomato sandwiches to lunchtime visitors. The annual event also includes samples of greenhouse cucumbers and dips from the market vendors.

Market vendors also offer a large selection of fresh produce, meats and cheeses, wines, baked goods and specialty products for purchase. In addition, shoppers will find a variety of hanging baskets, vegetable plants, trees and shrubs from garden vendors.

WHO:

Greenhouse Vegetable Day is sponsored by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the State Farmers Market and the N.C. Greenhouse Vegetable Growers Association.

WHEN:

Friday, May 17
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE:

New event area located between the N.C. Seafood Restaurant and the garden section of the Farmers Building.
