New satellite parking lot at Mountain State Fair

FLETCHER — Visitors to the 2013 N.C. Mountain State Fair will have a new parking option to use during the fair’s run Sept. 6-15 at the WNC Agricultural Center.

The fair has partnered with the Asheville Regional Airport to offer free parking in the airport’s overflow parking lot during the fair. Traffic signs will direct people to the new satellite parking site to relieve onsite fair parking as needed.

A free shuttle bus will be available to transport visitors from the overflow lot to the fairgrounds gate. Fairgoers will be dropped off near Barn D on the north side of the fairgrounds. Shuttles will run every 10-15 minutes during fair hours.

The new site replaces the field lot used in past years off Old Fanning Bridge Road. That road is temporarily closed due to construction of the new Sierra Nevada Brewery.

The 20th edition of the N.C. Mountain State Fair promises “Mountain Fun for Everyone.” Fairgoers can save $2 on admission tickets and 50 percent on ride tickets by purchasing them before the fair opens Sept. 6. Advance tickets are available through Sept. 5 at the WNC Agricultural Center, WNC Farmers Market, area Ingles stores and online at www.mountainfair.org.
