North Carolina blueberry growers will celebrate a banner crop at this year’s Blueberry Day at the State Farmers Market. Guests can enjoy free blueberry cobbler topped with ice cream prepared by the State Farmers Market Restaurant, and learn more about the state’s $71 million blueberry industry. Farmers will also offer freshly picked blueberries for sale.

Blueberry Day is sponsored by the N.C. Blueberry Council, N.C. Dairy Industry Promotion Committee, State Farmers Market Restaurant, State Farmers Market and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

June is Blueberry Month in North Carolina. The state is the seventh-largest producer of blueberries in the nation, with growers producing 48.5 million pounds of berries in 2014.
