Any establishment that operates hatchery equipment for the production of baby poults shall be considered a Turkey Hatchery.
No establishment shall be a Turkey Hatchery unless a license to operate shall have been granted by the Veterinary Division. Application for such license period shall be in the manner provided by the Director.The license period shall be the fiscal year, July 1 - June 30.
All turkey poults and hatching eggs produced, sold or offered for sale shall originate in flocks that meet the requirements of the national poultry improvement plan as administered by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.
Every hatchery shall keep such records of operation as the regulations of the Department of Agriculture may require for the proper inspection of said hatchery. The records of operation shall consist of a permanent record showing the name and address of the flock owner of all eggs received, together with the number of eggs and date received; also, a permanent record of all hatching eggs and turkey poults sold, with number,flock origin, date and name and address of purchaser. They also shall keep a permanent record of all flock inspections and test reports.
The license fee shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for each license period or part thereof, beginning with the first day of the fiscal year.
