Cost Share Programs - Community Conservation Assistance Program (CCAP)


Grassed Swale

A natural or constructed channel that is shaped or graded to required dimensions and established in suitable vegetation for the stable conveyance of runoff to improve water quality.  Benefits may include reduced soil erosion, sedimentation and pollution from dissolved and sediment attached substances. 

Maintenance Period
  • 5 years single-family home, 10 years all other properties

Required Effects
JAA/NRCS Standards
  • Grassed Swale (SWCC) for sites when the conditions below are not met
  • Requires a Professional Engineer stamped design for sites with any of the following:
    • The 2 year storm velocity is greater than 2 feet per second.
    • The 10 year storm velocity is greater than 5 feet per second.
    • The drainage area is greater than 2 acres.
