Request a packet to apply to be a CET or to renew your certification
Previously the application to become a Certified Euthanasia Technician was only one page and was found on our website. That application form has been removed from the website because of new requirements necessitated by the passage of House Bill 1741 http://www.ncleg.net/gascripts/BillLookUp/BillLookUp.pl?Session=2009&BillID=h1741
The application process is now more complex, uses forms that are not available online and may require assistance to complete.
You may request an application packet by:
- emailing the AWS at agr.aws@ncagr.gov or
- sending a letter to

Note that H 1741 included a requirement of a background check starting Oct. 1, 2010 for all new CET applicants or anyone asking to renew their certification. The bill also said:
The Board of Agriculture shall adopt rules for the certification of euthanasia technicians. The rules may provide for:
(7) Denial, suspension, or revocation of certification of euthanasia technicians who:
- Violate any provision of this Article or rules adopted pursuant to this Article;
- Have been convicted of or entered a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to
- Any felony;
- Any misdemeanor or infraction involving animal abuse or neglect; …
