Agricultural Conservation Easement Monitoring Portal
Monitoring is necessary to make certain the terms and conditions as specified in the recorded deed of conservation easement are followed, as well as to foster a productive relationship between the funding source(s), grantee, and landowner. Easement holding entities are required to conduct annual site visits and submit reports to Farmland Preservation.

Perpetual easement - forever
Term easements - the duration of the term
Projects - 5 years after the end of the contract
Plans - 5 years after the end of the contract
As long as the recordings are under the same ownership and the grantee is the same entity, only one report needs to be submitted.
If the recordings are on contiguous tracts of land, and the ownership and grantees for the recordings are the same, then one report can be submitted.
If a potential violation is noted while on a monitoring visit, please refer to the flow chart below and follow its steps. The first step is to discuss with the grantee's legal counsel to determine if a violation has occurred.
