A Newcomer’s Guide to Competitions at the N.C. State Fair
Each year one of the main draws at the N.C. State Fair are the competitions. All around the fairgrounds you’ll find winning entries for every type of competition you could possibly think of. For me and my mom one of our favorite things to do at the fair is try out some new food and walk around looking at the prize-winning exhibits as we eat. My goal with this blog is to make sure you’re able to walk away knowing the basics about all the competitions at the fair. Who knows — you might even be inspired to enter a competition yourself!
Newcomers Guide to the NC State Fair
Mission
To showcase and promote the state's agriculture, agribusiness, arts, crafts and culture through the annual agricultural fair. The Fair offers the agricultural community a venue to showcase its crops, livestock and new technology. The Fair is also an opportunity for the state's ever-increasing urban population to learn about agriculture through educational and competitive exhibits in the areas of livestock, horticulture, cooking, folk art and much more. More than $700,000 in prize money is awarded each year.
