Equine infectious anemia found in 19 horses in nine counties

A total of 19 horses in nine counties have tested positive for equine infectious anemia (EIA). At this time, 17 horses have been euthanized to help prevent further spread. The counties include Duplin, Forsyth, Henderson, Mecklenburg, Randolph, Sampson, Surry, Yadkin and Wake.

Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee to meet Feb. 7

The Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund will hold an advisory committee meeting to:

52 stores pay fines for price scanning errors in 33 counties

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division has collected fines from 52 stores in 33 counties because of excessive price-scanner errors.

Rowan County has a positive case of HPAI

Rowan County has an emu that tested positive for High Path Avian Influenza (HPAI). The positive sample was identified by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Veterinary Diagnostic Lab in Raleigh.

Board of Agriculture will meet Jan. 30

The N.C. Board of Agriculture will hold a meeting Monday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. in the training room of the Steve Troxler Agricultural Sciences Center in Raleigh.

The board will take up the following items:

Soil calcium, magnesium and potassium - straight talk about nutrient ratios
