Peak peach season in North Carolina is well underway, and many farms are expecting an extended season through October this year. “Due to the warmer winter, many farms didn’t get a freeze after peaches began budding this year,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler.

         To celebrate turning 40 and the arrival of season’s first local fruits and produce, the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market is hosting a Spring Fling event Sunday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Charlotte Regional Farmers Market will be hosting Strawberry Day, Friday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the sweet and tasty fruit. The day features free activities for children, recipes for adults and a visit from Suzy Strawberry for selfies.
