The Internal Audit Division is required by NC General Statutes to demonstrate compliance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors. Compliance is validated by undergoing an external quality assurance review (QAR), which is performed by an independent team of internal audit professionals from outside the Department at least once every five years.
