N.C. Forest Service - NCDOA Federal Surplus Property Agency

The program is similar to the Firefighter Property Program (FFP) except there is a relative service charge associated with each item that is donated. Most items become property of the acquiring agency after 18 months of use. Fire departments, rescue squads and law enforcement agencies can purchase items there after registering. This may be an option if an agency has funds available and do not want to wait for items to become available through other programs.

Many of the same items acquired for VFDs through the FFP program are available at federal surplus as are other items. The larger, more sought after equipment that may be available there include:

  • 2½- and 5-ton trucks
  • 2 ½-ton (new body style/flat front)
  • HMMWVs
  • 6x6 road tractors
  • ¾-ton cargo trailers
  • Tires for HMWV, 2 ½-ton, 5-ton and larger
  • Generators 10KW to 200KW (trailer-mounted and skid)
  • Small conex boxes and shipping containers
  • 2 1/2-inch and larger pumps, diesel engine driven
