Closed Trails and Areas at DuPont State Recreational Forest

Following weeks of recovery efforts, damage assessment and removal of storm debris in the wake of Hurricane Helene, DuPont State Recreational Forest (DSRF) will partially reopen Friday, Nov. 1, allowing visitors to enjoy limited recreational opportunities. Work to reopen trails and areas will continue, but as of Thursday, Oct. 31, the following trails and areas remain closed:

  • Barn Trail
  • Bridal Overlook Trail
  • Burnt Mountain Trail
  • Cart Trail
  • Flatwoods Trail
  • Grassy Creek Bridge – at the intersection of Buck Forest Road and Lake Imaging
  • Grassy Meadow Trail
  • Lake View Loop
  • Little River Trail
  • Nooks Trail
  • Poplar Hill Loop - north half
  • Sandy Trail
  • Stone Mountain Trail - upper section
  • Table Rock Trail
  • Triple Falls Stairs
  • Triple Falls Trail 

Visitors should expect to encounter changes to trail conditions such as increased erosion, uneven trail surfaces and narrowed trail treads. While DSRF staff have mitigated as many hazards as possible, visitors are advised to be cautious, allow extra time for their visit and plan alternative routes.
