The NC Feral Swine Taskforce (NCFSTF) wants to hear about any sightings, damage, and harvests of feral swine across the state to better understand where feral swine live and what impacts they are having here. NCFSTF is working with landowners to measure feral swine damage and to remove swine directly via effective techniques such as whole-sounder trapping. These efforts are currently focused in Sampson County and will expand to other parts of the state once the NCFSTF develops the most effective and practical methods for feral swine control in North Carolina.

Testing feral swine for diseases and parasites like the Asian long-horn tick is vital for keeping livestock healthy. Growers and landowners can request free kits for testing fresh feral swine carcasses. These kits test for brucellosis, Seneca Valley Virus, and pseudorabies.
Because some feral swine diseases can be transmitted to humans and other animals, always use biosecurity measures such as wearing gloves and sanitizing equipment while handling or disposing of feral swine carcasses.

What we do with your information
Information collected by or shared with the North Carolina Feral Swine Task Force, including survey responses, may be disclosed to the United States Department of Agriculture, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, and the North Carolina State University Extension. The information will assist the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and its partners in evaluating the Sampson County Feral Swine Eradication and Control Project. The sharing of information with other government and university partners is further necessary for the implementation of Sampson County Feral Swine Eradication and Control Project. By participating in Sampson County Feral Swine Eradication and Control Project, I understand that my information may be shared for purposes of evaluating and implementing Sampson County Feral Swine Eradication and Control Project.
