Troxler plans to visit, get update and have media availability on Grindstone Fire at Pilot Mountain

WHO/WHAT: Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler plans to visit the N.C. Forest Service’s Incident Command Post at the Grindstone Fire at Pilot Mountain to get an update on efforts to control the fire. Following the briefing, Troxler will make a few remarks and take questions from the media.

BACKGROUND
INFORMATION:
The N.C. Forest Service’s Red Incident Command Team continues to manage ongoing fire suppression efforts in cooperation with N.C. State Parks personnel and local fire fighters. To date the footprint of the Grindstone Fire, which started Nov. 27, is 1,050 acres. 
Due to dry conditions across the state, a burn ban was implemented statewide prohibiting open burning until further notice. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs.
