RALEIGH – The N.C. State Fair has created a donate tab on its website where fairgoers can contribute to support disaster relief efforts in Western North Carolina when they purchase their fair tickets. All monies collected will go to the MANNA FoodBank of Asheville, which lost its distribution warehouse during Hurricane Helene.
“Many people have asked about doing something for Western North Carolina and this will give those who would like to donate an easy way to do that when they purchase their advance ticket,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “The need is great in Western North Carolina and MANNA FoodBank will continue to work to meet those needs despite the setback.”
When purchasing ticket, the State Fair Cares boxed link will pop up on the shopping cart page before you check out.
MANNA FoodBank is set up temporarily at the Western N.C. Farmers Market to continue to distribute to over 200 partner agencies the organization works with. MANNA FoodBank has been the recipient of the Mountain State Fair’s annual canned food drives during the fair when fairgoers can exchange canned goods for free fair admission.
The N.C. State Fair held a similar fundraiser in 2018 following Hurricane Florence, with proceeds going to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern N.C.
