HOW

  1. Research soil samples are only accepted from April 1 through August 1, unless approved otherwise by the Soil Section Chief.
  2. Complete the Soil Sample Submission Form for Researchers and include it with the sample (s).  If you require heavy metals in addition to the standard analysis, complete the Soil Sample Submission Form for Heavy Metals instead. Samples will not be accepted without a submission form.
  3. Complete the NCDA Soil Sample ID Continuation page and include it with the sample (s).
  4. Include a printed copy of the signed (by the Agronomic Division) NCDA Cooperative Research Agreement with each batch of samples. 
  5. Samples will not be accepted without these three documents included in each batch.
  6. Please notify the Soil Testing Section Chief one week in advance of sample delivery.

By Mail:

  • UPS or FedEx: 4300 Reedy Creek Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607
  • US Postal Service:  1040 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699.  Allow additional time for delivery.

By Courier:  Many NCSU County Extension offices offer a courier service to deliver laboratory samples to the Agronomic Division.  Contact your County Extension office to inquire if this service is available in your area.

In person:  Soil samples may be dropped off at the Agronomic Division loading dock Monday-Friday between the hours of 7: 00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., except N.C. State holidays.
