There are requirements for what information must be shown on a delivery ticket for delivered propane as found in the North Carolina General Statutes chapter 81A-26 and 02 NCAC 38 .0702.
To summarize, the delivery ticket must be left at the time of the delivery and contain:
- the name and address of the vendor
- the name of the purchaser
- the date delivered
- the quantity delivered
- the common name of the product (propane)
- the price per gallon
- any charges associated with the delivery (regulatory compliance fee, HazMat fee, fuel surcharge, sales tax, etc.)
Additionally, deliveries made through liquid meters into storage containers shall be equipped with a printer. The printer shall print the quantity delivered on the delivery ticket and a copy of the delivery ticket will be given to the consumer. We do recognize that technology often outpaces regulations. There are systems that allow companies to provide an electronic delivery ticket to the customer, via email, using data provided directly from the meter to the software being used. This is acceptable as long as the above information is included and the delivery ticket is provided in a timely manner, ideally the same day.
