RALEIGH – To celebrate the bounty of local produce and N.C. food products, the State Farmers Market is hosting its fun-filled Summer Fest July 11 complete with kids’ activities, grilling demonstrations, plus free samples for guests.

This time of year, the variety of N.C. produce is as colorful as confetti, and visitors can come enjoy free watermelon slices, free peach samples, free tomato sandwiches and free corn recipe cards from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Learn how to grill like a boss and pick up tips on how to grill wagyu burgers, beef tips, barbecue sliders and produce with experienced pitmaster, NCDA&CS marketing specialist and Master Blend Family Farms’ Ron Simmons, who will be doing cooking demonstrations during the event.

Summer Fest offers something for the whole family, including blueberry coloring pages and potato stamps for the kids, and a selfie booth to remember your trip to the State Farmers Market.  Visitors can check out a simulated dairy milking station and the Dairy Alliance will be providing smoothies.

Be sure to check out the information about N.C. agritourism as well as a variety of the state’s top commodities. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the variety of crops North Carolina farmers produce, plus sample the flavors of summer.

Vendors will have plenty of fresh local produce, meats, seafood, cheeses, baked goods, canned goods, cut flowers, nursery plants and much more available for sale. Pick up some items, plan your next meal and put your new grill skills to the test with local goodness from North Carolina farmers.

The State Farmers Market is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The market is located at 1201 Agriculture St., Raleigh, Exit 297 off Interstate 40.
