Willie grew up on a tobacco, soybean, wheat, and cotton farm in Wayne County and farmed for 25 years with his dad until his death in 2017. His background in farming sparked his interest to attend NC State (GO PACK!) to receive his B.S. in Agricultural Education, Extension Option,  and Master of Agriculture in Agricultural Education. 

The Agronomic Division brought Willie on as a Regional Agronomist in 2019.

Willie believes that "The Regional Agronomist is a CSI, crop scene investigator.  Agricultural producers face many crop production challenges and issues every season.  To visit a farm, investigate an issue, and offer a solution or advice that helps a grower overcome the issue is the rewarding part of the job."
